The architectural language is contemporary yet tactile, characterized by rounded walls, continuous surfaces, and carefully modulated transitions between interior and exterior spaces. The building unfolds around sheltered courtyards, terraces, and covered outdoor living areas, creating a sequence of intimate and open zones that respond to the coastal climate and views. Large floor-to-ceiling glass panels, often gently curved, allow uninterrupted visual connections with the garden and the sea, while sheer curtains soften light and enhance spatial depth.
This exceptional single-storey family house is located in a small coastal settlement in north-western Istria, directly by the sea and fully immersed in lush Mediterranean greenery. With a total gross floor area of 400 m², the house is conceived as a horizontally spread, relaxed composition, defined by a fluid and articulated floor plan with softly curved geometries that dissolve the boundary between architecture and landscape.
Materiality plays a central role in the design. Natural stone walls, warm-toned timber cladding, ribbed wooden ceilings, and smooth mineral floors create a restrained, earthy palette that blends seamlessly with the surrounding vegetation. Built-in elements, fireplaces, and custom furniture emphasize horizontality and continuity, reinforcing the calm and luxurious atmosphere.
The landscape design is conceived as an integral part of the architecture. Organic paths, sculpted greenery, stone walls, and water elements follow the same soft geometry as the house, allowing the building to settle gently into the terrain. The result is a highly specific, low-profile coastal residence that offers privacy, spatial richness, and a strong sense of connection to nature, while maintaining a refined and contemporary architectural identity.
